Regional Web Content Publishing Process

Protocols, procedures and processes for state web site publishing.

Almost all of the web sites of the ALA of the Northwest (listed below, as well as related MRS e-Commerce, Kintera and GetActive sites) are Content Management Systems.  A Content Management System, or CMS, is a web application designed to make it easy for non-technical users to add, edit and, well, manage a website. This allows for staff members closest to their information to have direct access to publishing accurate and timely content.

Content Contributors: Content for state web sites is reviewed regularly by designated state staff members (a.k.a. Content Contributors) responsible for that area of information.  All web pages should be reviewed monthly, at minimum.

Content Managers: Updates are handled by Content Contributors directly or are submitted for publication to designated state staff members (a.k.a. Content Managers).  All updates need to be submitted in writing, PLAIN TEXT FORMAT ONLY.  Content Contributors/Managers have control of page Title, Description, and Body Text (including photos and/or graphics).  All changes are subject to adjustment to ensure accurate fit with the web site style sheets, color scheme, sizes and formatting.  All changes are subject to review by the state and/or regional communications staff.

Some of the Content Contributors/Managers are:

  • Alaska: Celeste Barret
  • Idaho: Christy Keef; Carrie Nyssen (Advocacy)
  • Washington: Paul Payton; Kenneth Wohlf; Carrie Nyssen (Advocacy); Robin Evans-Agnew (Research, WTS & Lung Disease); Casey Coulombe (MHE); Kathy Kiwala (WAI); Cait Alexander (WTS)
  • Clean Air Adventures: Bridget Herzog; Pamela Wuest; Bruce Wynn
  • Lung Northwest: Paul Payton; Kenneth Wohlf

Administration & Editorial Support: Web site administration and content management system support is provided by regional communications staff.  Web site administration includes: domain name management; web server administration; and web programming/development.  Editorial support for the Content Management System includes: "text boxes" and "image buttons" on either the right or left side of page content; and "special" coding. All content will adhere to National Online standards. Administration & Editorial Support: Paul Payton; Kenneth Wohlf.
